Pallative Oesophageal Stent
This case is an 86 year old man with increasing dysphagia secondary to metastatic mid-oesophageal carcinoma.
The footage shows insertion of an Ultraflex (Boston Scientific) covered oesophageal stent. First you see the upper aspect of the tumor, followed by lipidol marking of the distal aspect. A guideline is then placed, the endscope removed and the ultraflex stent inserted. Deployment follows under endoscopic and II guidance. Post deployment whilst the stent was distal to tumour the margins were small. The stent is then moved proximally with the aid of rat-tooth forceps. Post procedure the patient did well, and noted a marked improvement in his swallow.
